Connecting Your MO-690 Digital Master Controller

The MO-690 Digital Master Controller comes ready to be connected to your Märklin 6050 or 6051 Digital Interface. It is necessary to install the 9 volt battery provided into the back of the transmitter. Two other electrical connections must also be made.
First, plug the 6-pin plug into the receptacle on the Märklin 6050/51 Digital Interface on the right side. The cable supplied should be long enough to allow you to conveniently position the receiver where its indications can be seen by you most of the time. It is not necessary to have the infra-red receiver in view when transmitting signals as the infra-red signal will "bounce" off most lightly colored walls. This allows you to stand behind the receiver while bouncing commands off the walls on the far side of the room. The MO-690 Digital Master Controller has demonstrated reliable control at distances exceeding 40 feet.
The second connection is the power supply for the receiver. This is the small transformer included which supplies 9 volts AC. This transformer's output plugs into the rear panel of the receiver.
When power is applied to the receiver for the first time each day, all LED's will illuminate along with indications of "8" in each of the indicator windows as an internal testing measure. After a short time delay, the unit extinguishes all indications while waiting for your "power ON" command.
To allow proper operation the dip switches on the 6050/6051 must be set with 1, 2, 3 ON. When using the 6050 Computer Interface, the white CTS lead must be disconnected at either end of the furnished cable. This is due to a bug which existed in the original 6050's.

Locomotive Operation

Upon initial system startup, locomotive "01" appears in the receiver window. Locomotives are selected by depressing the "L" button on the transmitter. Next, the locomotive number (e.g."05") is selected using the numbered keypad on the transmitter. Speed for all locomotives is initially zero and functions initialize as OFF. As long as locomotive codes selected fall within the range of 0-80, the transmitter will agree with the code selected. When a number outside this range is selected, an indication of "00" is displayed. At any time, after "L" is depressed, the next 2 digits selected will be accepted and displayed (0-80). Once the desired locomotive has been selected, you are then able to modify the pre-existing function status, speed and/or direction of travel.
Depressing the "FN" key toggles the locomotive function between "ON" and "OFF".
Depressing the up or down arrow keys will increase and decrease the locomotive speed in steps of 1 (one) in a speed range of 0-14.
Depressing the double ended arrow requests a speed of zero and then reverses the locomotive. This is indicated by the direction indication changing from ] to [ and an indicated speed of "0". This is useful when making an "emergency stop" of ONLY the selected locomotive.
Anytime a previously controlled locomotive is re-selected, the receiver will indicate the last requested speed, direction and function status. This results in a "bumpless" re-selection of the locomotive.
