MO-625 100va BOOSTER
INSTALLATION

The MO-625 Booster must be installed to supply power to a circuit or part of the layout electrically independant of any other Booster or Central Unit. Center rail insulation is all that is necessary to seperate power supply blocks of trackage. A 5-pin cable is supplied to connect the MO-625 to the Central Unit or another Booster. Input and output wiring to and from the MO-625 should be of sufficient current carrying capacity so as not to impede current flow.

The nominal capacity of the MO-625 is 100va when supplied with a constant 16 v.a.c. This capacity will be decreased if the supply voltage to the unit drops below 16vac because the Central Unit will shutdown the entire digital system when output voltage drops too low (approximately 12 vac). The Central Unit interprets the voltage drop as being caused by excessive load and responds as if it were overloaded. Full capacity can be obtained by maintaining the supply voltage as close to 16vac as possible. A green LED pilot light illuminates to indicate that the Booster is ready for operation. This LED is illuminated green when supplying 0-85% nominal capacity. This LED is illuminated yellow when supplying 85-95% nominal capacity. When output exceeds 95% nominal capacity, this LED will be illuminated red. Normal operation will produce mild warming of the MO-625 metal case.

PHASE MATCHING TRANSFORMERS
Whenever 2 transformers are paralled such as is the case here or even on a conventional layout, all transformer MUST be in phase with each other. The proper way to phase match the transformer is as follows. Use a jumper wire to join the "O" terminals (common) of both transformers. Plug both transformers into a 110vac outlet. Now measure the voltage between the "L" (lighting) or "16" volt terminal on one transformer to the same terminal on the second transformer. This measured voltage should be less than 1-2 volts. If it is greater than this, unplug one transformer from the 110vac outlet, turn the plug over and reinsert it. Now measure the voltage again and it should be less. Continue matching the transformers until installed transformers are done.
